| | I just looked on google and when i typed in coralswap we are the first site that comes up and when i typed coral swap we are the 5th link down, not sure if this is the same for every search but if we are on the first page thats good, i know i dont usually go through to many pages as it tends to get further away from the subject you wanted it to search!! |

| Please, please, please..
Before advertising Coral Swap on another forum check that someone hasn't aleady done so..
It's quite frankly getting beyond a joke the number of duplicate adverts for Coral Swap now appearing on UK reefing forums (and I'm just seeing the repeats on MFUK). If it doesn't get under control soon the Admins of the other forums are going to get off and will ban all mention of Coral Swap.
Think before you post.. in general, if you have less than 10 posts on another forum and start using that forum to advertise this forum you will be regarded as a SPAMMER and will bring the forum you are advertising into disrepute. This could very well lead to your account being blocked on the other forum.
There are a number of high post count members of other forums that are also members of this forum.. please use the Newsletter to persuade them to include links in their signature files.. this will get a far higher and better quality coverage.

PS Josh, did you ever finish that homework? |

| No Alastair i didn't finish it!!
I understand YOU as the individual might be annoyed but it does not mean you can come on here swearing and laying the law down.
To be honest i gave up advertiseing on forums as even though on many i was an avid poster, i was appalled at some of the responses i got from admins, in particular the site that most of us left to join MFUK, i will not go into details but im sure you no what site im on about.
It is beyond MY control as to what the members on this forum do when they are not here, if they have advertised many times then take it up with them the individual and not every member of this bored!
Thanks! |

| Josh, it's less than annoyance at the moment.. just trying to avoid problems in the future (you know how nepotistic this hobby is with respect to the forums, and how easily people get upset). Maybe it's become obvious to me because I've been away and in revreiwing new posts whilst I've been away I'm reading the same thing again and again.
It seems that every couple of days someone is kicking off a thread "Free Frags" on a forum, when half-a-dozen different people do this on the same forum, and when the people doing it post multiple versions of the same thread in different sub-sections of the same forum.. then it starts to wear thin.
Much better if people add a sensible link to this forum to their signatures and get posting useful posts on the other forums. That way the link in the sig is out there, there are far more copies of it showing but it is at a muach lower level.
It's easier to mention it here because this is the thread where the Call to Advertise was first sounded. I did try and phrase the above post as a piece of strong advice rather than "laying down the law".
And you do yourself a disservice, Josh.. I always thought of this sight as an "interesting" rather than a "bored"
Al
PS I will add CS to my sig links on the forums I post on. |

| Fair point Alastair, this is a concern and i will be looking into and adviseing members that although it is a good idea to advertise the site it is not the best of ideas to keep posting in sub-sections!!
P.S. The site is interesting!! And i thank-you for putting CS on your sig!! |
