At the moment I have gone from a Euphyllia nut to a fungia nut - I am liking the fungias and I am very much preparing to propagate these corals when I have enough of them......watch this space

hi guys, im new to the forum but not the hobby. I have had my marine set up for about 3- 4 years now, I stumbled across this forum by accident to be honest but im impressed. I have heard about fragging before but not knowing anything about it i just never thought any more about it. Ive been reading a few posts on here an know a little more about it but not enough to be brave enough to try it i want to know every little detail before trying it. Mainly due to spending soo much money at the lfs ...

Hi

Im new to marine keeping, recently set up a river reef tank 45L. So far holds a peppermint shrimp and some mushroom polyps along with 2 hermits and a turbo and Nassarius snail.

Im looking to find some nice looking frags that would be ideal for a newly setup tank.

Ive got some zoanthids due to arrive tomorrow.

Hi All

Not sure if this will catch on but I thought I should write a little report on my recent trips to a not so local LFS. I was working in London and I knew that a shipment of carribean gorgonians were due in at Amwell Aquatics.

I went into the store and I noticed that they had a decent selection of corals and I also saw plenty of frags on offer mainly pulsing xenia, mushrooms, toadstools and other soft corals.

Near the liverock system there was the start of a dedicated critter ...

Hey all,

This forum is a super idea and much respect goes to the founder/s!

I've just joined the forum today I have had a reef tank for just over a year now.

I have:

Red mushrooms

Leather finger coral

yellow polys

xenia (lots!)

Kenya Tree coral (Capnella)

I only really have spares (at the moment) for the bottom two, maybe the odd mushroom too. The rest I hope to propagate over the coming weeks but if any of those take your fancy then I would be very interested in ...

Im new to the world of marine keeping and have recently setup a River reef tank 45L.

All is going well, so far i have some Mushroom polyps, peppermint shrimp, turbro snail, nassarius snail and 2 x blue hermits.

As with everything there are probably a hundred ways to frag a mushroom but I am showing my preferred method.

Equipment needed:

Sharp scissors or blade.

Board to cut on

Paper towel

Tub of tank water.

Super glue gel

Rock to attach to.

Firstly the toadstool will need removing from where it is growing. If this can be completed outside of the tank all the better. I had already disturbed my toadstool so you will notice it is slightly receded in the picture.

Miracle Mud system

Hi all

I would liek to see what people's opinion would be on a miracle mud ecosystem filtration for my new tank.

I am converting an old sump into a large ecosystem filter and it wil be just that miracle mud, caulerpa algae and then returned into the main display. I am selling my APF600 skimmer (pm me for details if interested) and I will be using carbon once a month passively in the sump compartment before the return.

I am hoping to set up a fragging system mext to my new tank ...

How often do you feed your corals? when, what and how

I have been feeding zoo plankton, osyter eggs, mysis, cyclopeze and ground dragon pellets to the tank just before lights out.

My LPS go berserk for the food along with my litophyton corals, gorgonians, bubble, fungia plate and duncans.

I hav ebeen experimenting with a wave maker Ocean Pulse Duo wave maker - less than 20 squid!

I am running a small seio on this turning on the pump every 10 seconds or up to every 6 minutes.

hi everyone in new here and ive been looking for somthing like this for a while now and hopfully my tank will be booming with corals within the next few months.

i hate paying those stupid LFS prices for frags yesterday i paid �30 for a red bush which is about 3 inches tall..... �10 per inch....so that must mean im worth atleast �130

i have just got into fragging didnt quite have the balls at first but now ive got my first one done tjeres no stopping me now.

hi all, i'm a newbie to marines, got an orca 550 which has been going a few months, got a few softie frags given to me by a local reefer which are growing ok, got a leather toadstool from a local lfs, he has only been in a week, just shedding at the mo. once everything has settled a little more and i'm more confident i will start fragging!! i would rather frag and swap and have the satisfaction of growing my own reef plus save some pennies than just buy larger specimens, i'm in southampton

Not really frags but open to offers of swops or cash.

Candelabra[if you're posh]leather coral.I call it a cactus coral. This does ok on just light but will catch and eat lobster eggs.If fed 1-2 times a week it does good.

Zoa rock.Can't count them but there's a few on there.

Pretty pink feather clove polyp.The ones i'm swopping/selling are the same as these and probably about 12 over a small chunk of rock.

What a great looking site I'm very new to marine after having tropical for 3 years. I've had my tank going for about 6 weeks lol but not rushed into buying fish ect. I just have 2 chromis and 1 cleaner shrimp. small amount of live rock, But it was the corals that drew me to a marine tank, So any information on where to start with them what to go for first, I have been looking on ebay but any help from here would be very much appreciated.

Hi all

I hav ebeen playing around with the flow in my RSM recently and I wanted to let people know about a cheap wave maker from JBJ which is called an Ocean Pulse Duo wave maker.

The RSM (red sea max) comes with two powerheads which are rated at 550lph (I think). I have attached a hydor 'turning thing' cant remember the correct name for but I added this to the right hand powerhead to create a random current which moves around the tank and crashes into the left hand powerhead which ...
